Nafplion in Peloponnese is one of the most romantic cities and destinations in Greece. All in all it is a charming city with its spectacular waterfront, small streets and historic buildings and beautiful castle that makes it an unforgettable excursion at any time of the year.
In the morning we stop at the Corinth Canal to admire the impressive human excavation through the solid rock that opens the way for the ships to cross from the Aegean Sea to the Gulf of Corinth. The turquoise color of the water and its depth of the canal of 90 meters are breathtaking!
In Nafplion before we start our walking tour we will visit the 150 years old ouzo distillery of the town. We will learn about the production of ouzo in the attached museum. In the farmers market you can taste some of the local products like Kalamata olives, cheese and oranges.
After the walking tour you can enjoy a lunch at a fish tavern next to the sea and taste local dishes. Don’t forget to ask for the original Greek coffee after lunch in one of the numerous traditional coffee shops in the promenade.
On our way back to Athens we will stop at JUMBO where you will have the opportunity in extremely low prices to make your shopping and buy presents for your family and friends back home.
